
Anthony David Gonzalez was born on February 27, 1976, in Torrance, California. He grew up in the southern part of California and was a student at Huntington Beach High School where the school was where he played at the top on both football and basketball teams. Gonzalez excelled in these sports at University of California, Berkeley. He led the football team to the 1996 Aloha Bowl. Here, Gonzalez set the record for school bowls with nine receptions. Gonzalez played with the basketball team into the Sweet 16 of NCAA basketball tournament only a few months later. After that, he left the school for the 1997 NFL Draft. The Kansas City Chiefs chose Gonzalez as their 13th overall selection. Gonzalez was a player with the Chiefs from 1997 to 2008. The Chiefs sold Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons. After his second season in the NFL, he never caught more than 59 passes in a season.
